This reminds me of all the "militia" guys we used to see running around in military uniforms a few years back. Ask them what they were doing, and they would give you some version of what you just wrote . . . eventually, they got tired of playing soldier and decided to spend their weekends watching football instead. So far as I can tell, the whole "militia" craze never accomplished a thing.
