Cars Spoil the Environment even Parked

This author is right that miles per gallon is nearly irrelevant for the environment. It's just another bait and switch played on an odd assemblage of useful idiots. The thing is, not driving the car doesn't help much either. The mere act of preparing the world for a car: paving parking spaces, providing facilities for the car, making the car and finally disposing of the car dwarfs the act of using the car - the gas and oil involved - in terms of environmental impact. Environmentally, the only good car is one that never existed.
