Sabbath two
by Bratsche

I

encounter -
saw an angel once
had a pick-up truck
wrecked, dangling from one eye

it spoke in visuals that
disappeared upon utterance
caught (I'll say)
partials of grape, cloud, running water

I offered it a swag of Irish anodyne
truck's bumper fell instantly
clanging at my feet
in a three-phase rebuttal with
spark ebulliae chattering facets of rainbow

one of us must
thought I be lost

I turned away (get/offer
a cup of black coffee - mas civ-ville, eh?) turned again
it was right in my face

the truck was empty
rumples vanishing as seen re-
turning as seen without a blink

the side-view mirror
was wrenched-around - my
face faded in-out of scenes (ob-
and standard) from my years to then
- made me drunk with apprehensi

I blinked

all of it was gone,
utterlyness incarnate

suddenly
the ratio between time and clay
was made quite clear

I could
fathom the porous whispers
between autumn leaf, autumn airs
and the floating mist of my own breath

II

ach k'tung, ach k'tung -
all third rails are
now undergoing amendment

'fuck' is now admissible evidence
in the case of figurines v sanscon crotches

(mutterings & flinches
must now begin the process of
voiding their own fill)

innocence has become a
nearly-perfect, child-proof thing
of the past - farts and bleches on tv
are now rated K - Cyberhead

black and white lies
have internupted - dishgray waters
have broken, progenering the socio-potable

collection plates are
now classified as mugger's ware
- belfries ring at their own risk

the little girl who lives down the lane
can have her rape excused,
her murder justified by psycho- $$s
in courtly symbosis

(at this point
the reader is free to
add/mull his own eclecticums of etc.)

'and - O sunny-share - the in-
stincts on'...
