No, I didn't. You deliberately selected Civil War battle casualties and the US Coast Guard to use to illustrate your numbers when you could have used NFL or college football attendance for that comparison. Dead Soldiers and Coast Guardsmen evoked the visions and feelings of sacrifice and duty. Football games evoke the image of amped up fans screaming and cheering at what is ultimately a frivolous spectacle. You wanted the Tea Party protesters associated with group one, when the reality is they more closely resembled group two. That's why I called you on it.
The Tea Party protesters are merely an exercise in political theater, a side show. Current federal tax burdens are less than they were in the 90s. The $1.4 trillion deficit was 30 years in the making, Obama didn't bring it into existence by winning the White House. His contribution was the portion of the stimulus bill to be spent this year. Everything else was inherited. For the Tea Party members to have credibility, they should have been out there eight years ago protesting tax decreases, military spending, and Medicare expansion. A true fiscal conservative would have required a cap on spending and insisted that the surplus be utilized to pay down the national debt. Where were the Tea Parties then when they actually could have helped prevent this $1.4 trillion dollar deficit and held our national debt to well under $10 trillion? How exactly do they propose Obama eliminate that $1.4 trillion deficit?
