if your only argument against selling OTC birth control pills is blood clots for smokers over 35, then you could easily argue to limit it to people under 35. or to people who don't smoke. and so on.

i think the issue with such things is how much the nanny state thinks it needs to be responsible for the decisions people make instead of letting them take responsibility for the risks of their own actions. i smoke. i know the risks of taking the pill. if i still want to do it, then it should be my right to. my body, my choice. but that's not how this country runs. "we" want to protect everyone from themselves.
