I've squirrel, deer and dove hunted. I have a 3030 Winchester saddle rifle with open sights for deer hunting and I have a 410 shotgun for squirrel and bird hunting. You need to find the right area for the kind of hunting you plan to do. For deer hunting I find a tree that is easy to climb with big branches to sit on. I usually find a tree where there is a wooded area on one side and a pasture on the other. I've never failed to see a deer while deer hunting but I never shoot one because I know my father, brothers or husband will shoot one. We also do not believe in baiting deer as many of the so called hunters do nowadays. We usually hunt on my father's ranch which has both pasture land and wooded areas.

Bird hunting is different in that you usually sit on the ground in tall weeds in a pasture. The dove will flush and as they fly over you aim and shoot. With squirrel hunting you just sit in the woods and when you see one in the branches you aim and shoot. I have shot squirrel and dove many times. Dove breast is pretty good cooked in butter and spices but I prefer chicken. Squirrel is dark meat and kind of stringy and I usually make squirrel dumplings with it. Deer meat is dark, the steaks and roasts are delicious.

We usually bury the inedible parts.

My husband and I have our own construction company. We only have about 25 acres and several cattle by the house but we lease some acreage and have about 20 head there. Our cattle is more like pets than anything else but when money gets tight we sell several to help ends meet. When you're in the cattle business everything revolves around the prices their paying for beef at the time, prices are always changing. The recent droughts in Texas have hurt many cattle ranchers because they cannot make enough hay to feed their herds and for people like us its hard to find reasonably priced hay.

Yes, my Mother loved my dad. I really do not know why she loved him, he treated her like crap but I prefer not to go into that. I care for my father because he is my father but I do not respect him. I cannot be around him because he has a problem with the truth and he does not like women who speak their mind. On a side note he is a Christian Conservative and I'm not.

I have three children. They've changed me in making me want to be a better person thereby setting a good example for them and it must have worked because they are three of the finest people I know. Not to say we haven't had our issues but most families do.
