PS: Professors having sex with their students--of ANY age or classification--is banned at pretty much every academic institution in America. Most people view this is as a gross violation of the relationship between faculty and students and fraught with potential for abuse. But I am so glad Saletan is so progressive that he sees that professors having sex with their impressionable 18-year-old students who might be depending on their professors for grades or other evaluations is unethical, if not completely and totally wrong.

You'd be surprised at how few universities have policies in place and/or don't actually enforce said policies. And it's not just professors who need to be held to that standard, it is also the graduate students who use their position of power the exact same way a full-fledged faculty member might.

I know of what I'm speaking. I've worked at 5 different universities in 3 different states. I'm not making it up.
