Saletan is like a real-life Colbert
by Larry2

I mean the character Colbert, not the real Colbert. In other words, one of those very ill-informed people who have somehow managed to become opinion leaders.

He writes:

Having sex at 13 is a bad idea. But if you're pubescent, it might be, in part, your bad idea.

Apparently he either doesn't know, or ignores, the fact that Polanski was charged with drugging the girl so as to have his way with her (anally and vaginally). Geimer's attorney wanted to protect her from a trial, therefore they offered Polanski the lesser charge of (essentially) statutory rape if he's plead, and he did.

Just because the lesser charge left out the drugging, that does not change the fact that it's what was alleged.

So, whose bad idea was it again?
