Re: For those interested in the Super Bowl and Oscars
by hidaily

The Oscars regularly throw out lifetime achievement awards, ho hum. The Super Bowl creates a definitive winner each year. These are the kinds of choices RWH can handle, clear-cut, no nuance, no hope involved.

The RWH deal in personal responses, and this extends to whole countries. France has been on their hate list since it recognized the Iraq war as an unfolding tragedy. And now Norway is on their splat list. Ridiculous. Infantile.

So my point is aimed at the hard edge of the wingnuts, not those who think the Nobel Committee has failed to live up to past standards. But on those past standards, Bondsman, my favorite choice for the Peace Prize was the 1976 award to Betty Williams and Mairead Corrigan, co-founders of the Peace People who vainly sought reconciliation in northern Ireland. I like that “sought” stuff. Congratulations and good luck, President Obama.

Henry Kissinger, now there was a selection to furrow the brow.
