Looting the dead of Cambodia
by pbev

I can barely grasp how starved and hard up a person would have to be willingly to go poking through the remains of a killing field. Perhaps the villagers severe poverty blurred the lines of decency between life and death. Hunger is a beast.

I had the great fortune to be a penpal with Dith Pran during the late nineties, around the same time Pol Pot died. Until Cambodia addresses it's hideous past and holds somebody accountable, digging for gold will become the new economic emmigration for villagers nationwide.

Sad. Very sad.
