he won't be remembered among the, say, second tier all-time great managers for one reason only: his back-to-back winners had the highest payrolls and the argument could be made that they bought their way to the top. You still gotta win though (duh). He was always horrifically bad with the bullpen, but where's the line with the pitching coach? This year he was killed by Wells-Rios and decimated starting rotation, don't know if anything else matters (though the Millar thing was bizzare, Overbay has a point).

anyway, a noble effort.
