I didn't realize it was so simple!

Oh. So all we have to do to be in favor of
Obamacare is to swallow the numbers the administration provides us with! Well, I guess the debate's over then. And besides; who’re you gonna believe? Obama, or your
own lyin’ eyes?
Thanks,
Tim, but I’m going to remain skeptical of a study entirely predicated upon projections
“According to Obama Policy w/o Health Reform”.
Yes, you read that right. The
study determines the redistribution winners and losers using baseline numbers provided
by the administration. GIGO – garbage in,
garbage out.
-
I
understand that all projections have to be based on something and it’s not fair
to say that the Obama numbers were provided in bad faith – what I’m suggesting
is that the Obama budget projections are wrong, not because he’s trying to solve
for a result, but because his administration is mistaken about what the effects
of the policies will be. I guess that’s
sort of the fundamental discrepancy between Right and Left anyway – both sides want to create maximum
benefit for the maximum number of Americans.
The difference is how best to reach that goal.
-
If everyone
believed the numbers the administration provided there would be no debate on
this issue (OK, there'd still be some) –
“Well, Obama said he’s going to lower the cost of healthcare, provide more Americans with
insurance, and cut fraud and waste. Nah,
f-that, I want higher healthcare costs, fewer Americans to be insured, and more
fraud and waste.”
^ that is
the line of argument people on the Left ascribe to opponents of “reform”. It's truly bizarre, but it must stem from the way the Left considers itself to have a monopoly on brains - they can't even fathom that an opponent might have a reasoned, intelligent, and logical disagreement with their opinion. It's a disability, and it's not unique to the Left, but it pops up there more often than on the Right and it's counterproductive at best; just think, the Left has wasted 4 freaking months barking up the wrong tree. Fortunately, I think maybe they're starting to come to the realization that it’s not that the Right doesn’t want
the same things, they just disagree that Obamacare will provide them in the correct way.
