Apropos of nothing on the XX factor at present, here is an MSN homepage-linked article talking about an apparent increase in autism rates. I've posted here before discussing the way health-related articles are handled with respect to gender. Autism affects 4 times as many boys as girls, but this fact is never mentioned in the article. Gender stats are always included when something is more prevalent in women. Always. Very often, it is not mentioned when the opposite is true.

Overtime, this disparity helps to create an impression of a health crisis in women; shaping public opinion and governmental funding for awareness programs etc. It is an insidious form of sexism that gets no attention.
