Re: real music has
by tubbs

It's always such an interesting dilemma when someone anonymously makes a bigotted prejudiced statement about something or someone you appreciate.

I could take the bait, I suppose and say something nasty about classical music and the effeminate people that listen to it.

Or I suppose I could say something about how small someone has to be intellectually, socially, and artisticly to feel threatened by an art form that he or she presumably doesn't like enough to care about.

Or I guess I could ignore the comment and realize that someone who has such a limited worldview is really just venting their frustration at their own tiny, pathetic existence.

It's a tough call, but at the end of the day, it doesn't really matter. Hip hop is excellent art and music. Whether some childish simpleton feels otherwise, isn't that important. Annoying, yes. Important, no.

Hip-hop expresses sentiments in a unique way that appeals to many many people. Many of us simply prefer the aesthetic of hip hop to whatever effete, pretentious, boring, homogeneous music that those in the majority would like to impose. I'd happily listen to this so-called jungle music for the rest of my life if it ensured that I wasn't the type of closed-minded bigot that has commented on this brow-beat article.
