One of the greatest things you'll ever hear
by watt4bob

Thanks Fritz,

My girl friends father had season tickets for the Chicago Symphony, so I got to see them play quite a bit one summer while I stayed in Chicago for a month painting his house. This was right around the time they released the complete Beethoven Symphonies, still one of the best box sets you'll ever hear.

I think that recording did a lot to shut up the blue hairs who couldn't accept Solti because they thought Fritz Reiner was God. (made a lot of money too)

I loved Solti and I also got to see that Levine guy from the Metropolitan Opra direct them at Ravina which is a beautiful outdoor park north of Chicago.
