Re: It's not just the smoke...
by donnamp

Most smokers seem to think nothing of tossing a butt out the car window,

I am not advocating this as an excuse. Part of the reason for that (some people just don't care) is caused by the fact that car manufacturers no longer put ashtrays in cars. So many people just toss their cigarettes out of the window since there is no place to put the cigarette out in the car. I am a smoker and I have purchased (not just for myself but also for some of my friends that smoke) an ashtray (only costs a couple dollars) that fits right in my cup holder. When I am outside (park, beach, etc), I will put my cigarette out and either hold onto it until I can get to a garbage can or place it directly in a garbage can if one is nearby. I also try to be as considerate as possible to non-smokers.

There are a lot of inconsiderate people out there and they are not only smokers with their litter. I live a block away from a convenient store and just about every day I have to walk around and pick up all the candy, ice cream, etc. wrappers, the plastic bottles, the aluminum cans and anything else that they want to throw on my lawn as they walk down the street.

I actually feel that is as infuriating as seeing cigarette butts all over the place.
