I watched it Live for three or four hours, and maybe it was a later point in time when Peter Jennings gave his description of demolition. You are correct that the initial response was the reporter explaining the collapse to Peter Jennings... and then Jennings said that, this is the way demolition works, you have to "get at the infrastructure, underneath the building" ... which the reporter didn't quite grasp because he took that to mean a bomb going off at street level... what did happen was they cut the footers nine floors below street level right at bedrock... exactly as Jennings explained it.

You are an ignoramus, if you look at that video, you can clearly see the thermite explosive melting the steel at the floor just below impact, the camera even follows the dripping steel... that is the explosive, that is what the explosive does, the explosive is caught on that clip. Remember, fire burns up, there is nothing near hot enough anywhere in that fire to melt steel, especially below the fire. The clip that you linked clearly captures the thermite explosive at the initial point of demolition.
