The irrational fear of labels.
by Boltlady
It seems that if someone is called anti-American, anti-semitic, racist, socialist, communist, or any of so many labels out there, that person is supposed to shunned. It's almost as though we're all supposed to be in a box someplace and we have to be very careful about which box it is. Once we have our label, it's as though we are not a whole person anymore. We're just whatever that label says we are and we are then lumped with others of the same label.

Personally I've never subscribed to that line of thinking. People are multi-faceted, and just because they believe one way about a particular subject doesn't mean that they carry that line of thought into other areas. Actually I guess I should say SOME people don't. There are many others who seem perfectly content to stay in their little box believing there's safety in numbers.

Sometimes there is, and sometimes there isn't.
