I find this doubtful, but only because I tend to think that the human race has long since exceeded the carrying capacity of this planet for our peculiar life forms and our massive consumption of resources. I think we're headed for a crash, rather than a gentle plateau. We could easily be reset to our numbers of a century or two ago (about two or one billion, respectively) if we don't make some serious strides with regard to renewable energy and water management (to name a few).

We'll see, I suppose.
