Re: HR 676 Universal Health Care For All
by SilverGuardian

I like the looks of this, but I am terrified of placing my health in the hands of the federal government. Currently, the FDA allows man-made drugs to be sold (and advertised) as long as they list the problems they could cause. Like death. That just can be mentioned as a possible side effect. But I can't use ma huang because it has caused 44 deaths. Aspirin causes 500 deaths yearly. Obesity causes 300,000 deaths yearly. They should make it illegal.

It is absolutely obvious that the FDA is in bed with pharmaceutical companies. And no one regulates the regulators.

I fear more federal control vis a vis more federal agencies. I'd like HR676 to pass, but don't trust my government to regulate it. Currently, it's against the law for IV's to be administered by clinics and clinics that have done so have to return the funds they've received for the last two years. I presume this is meant to put abortion clinics out of business, but that is not all that is going to occur. Our government is drunk with its power.

I have a dear friend who is on her deathbed. The woman who was lucid and excitingly capable two years ago (when she wasn't in the hospital having another of her many strokes), and today can't quite follow instructions except on a few days a month, and can barely use her computer because of the pain in her hands, has been denied ssi because she's too educated and should be able to find a way to make money when she isn't blind after the most recent stroke.

How can you have faith in something that our government regulates?

It's pie in the sky, but it would be served by the grim reaper.
