My basic questions about the war were given in my previous point titled "If I knew then .." but I have other questions I'd like to ask.
1. Has there ever been a suggestion in the House or Senate, to remove (or soften) the black and white sides of the abortion issue? Why is it that pro-life or pro-choice are the only two choices? Can no one think of another way to keep from returning to the era of illegal abortions, which were to many of us more horrifying than "killing babies"?
2. What would universal health care mean to those of us who don't believe or trust medical doctors? Many of us are healthier than we've ever been, through using alternative medicines. Some of those alternatives have been denied us, by the FDA or other federal programs which have decided that because they set the standards, Americans must be protected from their own instincts and knowledge. How would we keep universal health care from falling into hands which determine that a person be protected from his own knowledge? Or could we?
3. Our federal government has intervened to say that IV's can not be given in clinics, and in fact is requiring that any clinic which has done so return the funds they've received over the last two years. My presumption is that this is designed to put abortion clinics out of business, but there are other clinics which are also going to be greatly affected, who make it possible for people to live in their own homes instead of being hospitalized. I know of one case presently, that breaks my heart. And while I have previously advocated universal health care, this kind of federal intervention frightens me. How do we "fix" programs such as the FDA, which are so bent? It is my understanding that the government does not in fact regulate agencies such as the FDA, but allows the agencies to regulate themselves. Can you see any way in which we can correct such programs, and would you consider it worth being on your list of priorities as president?
Thank you
