There really hasn't been anything done or said about her nomination that really is new or shocking in reference to SCOTUS appointments. The rhetoric of the right is less important than their seeming inability to recognize that antagonizing the first Latina SCOTUS candidate will only further alienate the large and growing Hispanic voting bloc in America.

I weep that this is what our politics have come to. One can't even raise questions about the judicial qualifications or fitness of an Hispanic jurist without risking insinuations of racism?

The cynicism here is mindblowing. Where was this outrage when the Democrats filibustered Miguel Estrada, with actual evidence suggesting that his race played a role in the opposition?
