People are more civil when you don't know who has a pistol in their pocket. It is funny that the Brits always get credit for their civility when I think the Yanks really have them trumped there. Still, nobody beats us Canucks for pure unadulterated blandness. That being said, I also believe that we Canadians are mealy-mouthed passive-aggressive backstabbers (we have a lot of good qualities too!). Still, would I rather be laughed at to my face, or behind my back?
