Re: USA is so repressed that ...

I understand what avraamjack is trying to say. I was in the music business for nearly 20 years and their is a "need" in this country to "feel connected" with the latest and greatest music, fad's, and people that "fit in". If you're in a group of people, and you mention that you like music from 20 years ago, you'll be ostracized. Our country is obessesed with feeling wanted and needed and if you don't look, smell, or talk the part, you won't be popular. While being a musician, the attitude back at me was more forgiving because I WAS THE ENTERTAINMENT. But if I visited any bar that I was not playing in at the time, I was just another smuck who knew nothing unless I was hanging out with the "right crowd". AND to go back to what avraamjack was saying. I have been with friends at a club, laughing and being loud and we have had bouncers ask us to be quiet or leave but if you're with the "right group" or are known by the club owners, you can do no wrong. We have also had women come up and say, "oh you guys are having way too much fun" with a sacastic tone as though they're jealous of us. Why? Because they're not sitting with us. They want the attention and they're not getting it. The women tended to be blonde and white.
