Re: Pervasive American Anti-Zionism

How is it that we think we should tell Israelis where they can build homes for their own citizenry fully within their national borders by the way, and claim to tiny Israel that we are right and their own duly & democratically elected Prime Minister, is oh so wrong?

How dare we.

How did our former Sec State dare tell the Israelis that there should be democratic elections in Gaza, the result of which not unpredictably the insertion of Hamas as the head of a significant portion of what our country still maintains needs to be a fully accredited sovereign Palestinian State. In my humble and certain opinion, a sovereign Palistinian State is the death knell of the Jewish Homeland, the historic State of Israel.

Hmm...we should respect democratic elections in Israel proper, but not in the occupied territories. So is the standard for respecting elections that we respect those that have outcomes with which we agree?

A Palistinian State, that were it allowed to come into existence, would no doubt be dedicated at it's core by it's most passionate and ardent believers, to the destruction of the entire State of Israel and the end of Zionism. A State of Palestine upon which would shine the full blown happy smiles of the likes of the Israel must die dictator of Iran, he newly in power through a military coup, the end of which has not yet been determined.

It is also clear that the most passionate and ardent Zionists would no doubt be dedicated to the destruction of any Palestinian state. Does that mean that we should drop all aid and diplomatic support to Israel?

Conflating the issue of a Palestinian state with the disputed elections in Iran is a transparent attempt to gain the sympathy of the anti-Ahmedinenejad liberals to the cause of right-wing Israeli politics.

Obama and America, should never be considered the proper policy makers for the sovereign State of Israel. If you are an American Jew who believes that they should, then you have lived in the Diaspora far too long.

This statement is funny considering that many (though not I) believe that American Jews have made Isreal the de facto policy makers for US policy towards Israel and the Middle East.

That being said, Obama and America are not policy makers for Israel. Stating what the US thinks Israel should do is not policy making. Israel can go and do whatever it wants, but if those actions are deemed by a US Administration to be significantly harmful to US interests, then the US can withold economic aid to Israel or refuse to provide cover for them in the UN Security Council or grin and bear it.

Your complaints are more that the Obama Administration believes that a two-state solution is the best solution (for the US) - a solution that many Israelis support. This has nothing to do with the US interfering with Israeli policy making.
