Imported alcohol is still taxed, why wouldn't pot be? Also, couldn't the piece-of-the-pie argument extend to the proposed soda tax? I think that logically whenever any product is created different interests must want a piece of the pie and the same applies to any other source of revenue. I am sure there will be a struggle for money, I believe it is called capitalism (obviously by this trite comment I mean from competing pot-selling corporations, not government) and "the carving" with different sections of government wielding different sized knives will no doubt be no worse than anything else we would tax and would most definitely not cost any more than the failed "war on drugs"–although I must concede it may in the short-term be fiscally ineffective; in the long term, however, the benefits will exponentially outweigh the costs.
