Sorry, but sodomite is not an objective term. The objective term would be homosexual, and everything we've said above (that a person is more than occupation, orientation, etc, but that these are still true and can be the reason for a hate crime) applies just the same.

Sodomite: n. One who engages in sodomy.

Sodomy: n. Any of various forms of sexual intercourse held to be unnatural or abnormal, especially anal intercourse or bestiality.

It is not synonymous with homosexuality.

Combat soldiers can be "unilaterally state-sanctioned murderers", animal control officers can be "animal killers", and I assume you will begin to refer to people engaged in assisted suicide, or military snipers, as "executioners" (perhaps "medical executioners" and "military executioners").

Among some people, "abortionist" is equivalent to "murderer". Both sides of the debate are well aware of this, and how it leads to justifications for retaliatory homicide (though some would undoubtedly prefer "execution"). Please have enough integrity to begin referring to certain conservative commentators as "propagandists" then. Otherwise, I assume I have your blessing to refer to you as a "denialist".
