That's the only relevant topic in this entire discussion. I feel like the discussion has been mostly

"Well, computers CAN do that and this and that."
"Well, they can't be CONSCIOUS, so there!"

Well, why the hell not? Until you parse out what consciousness is, you are just engaging in a backwards mind/body duality back-patting exercise. I suppose next you are going to suggest that computers can't be conscious because they don't have enough phlogiston in them.

I do think that there are some interesting properties of the brain that may very well make it able to do things that computers can't. For example, Roger Penrose has some theories on this. However, I don't just hide behind this magical word "consciousness" as a matter of fact, QED explanation.
