I didn't suggest that the Mayans reset their calendar, we (well, the Latin West) did by starting a calendar/timeline of our own, to celebrate "the Name of the Lord (Anno Domini). I merely brought that up, because if that naming convention hadn't occurred, the world wouldn't end on 12/21/12 (the sexy sequence).

BTW I'm a Dutch expat and would have put day before month, and I sure wouldn't want to world to end on 21/12/2012. That just doesn't make any sense for a good apocalyptic plot.
