I spent most of 1999 monitoring data migration to a y2k-resistant accounting system. To this day I believe (no cognitive dissonance here) that the account rep for the new system did not really know whether he was selling necessity, but the company dollar was acceptable remedy for ignorance.

As I put my dollars on the collection tray I feel better about the now-imminent coming of Him. I do wonder how the Mayans foresaw that His First coming would reset the calendar to zero A.D. and create this sexy sequence of numbers. What haven't they told us about the Second?

Fear mongering has an excellent track record of parting the naive with their money. Of course this time it might not matter. To be safe, I'll be serving steak before 12/21/12, in my bomb shelter.
