Although, I have seen other people who disagree using the "a life is a life" argument... I would think your analogy should extend to all other drugs, not just marijuana and to other legalities such as prostitution. I tend to agree with the full breadth of that analogy, but am unsure that you would. I am one who believes we shouldn't legislate opinions or tastes, so as long as it doesn't hurt other–already born–people it shouldn't be legislated.

I am suspicious though, if that is your logic–which is one I prescribe to–would you agree that prostitution should be legal? After all, it would stop the spread of disease in "proverbial back-alleys" through being regulated a-la Nevada's brothels. Would this extend to crack and heroin? After all, the criminal element to these drugs comes from it being criminalized. If you could go to a crack/heroin bar (or something to that effect) where would the gang's and cartels get their money?

Sorry if you actually agree with me on all of this. As I said, I am 100 percent in agreeance with you, I just want to make sure you understand the breadth of applicability in your reasoning.
