Mr. Hitchens:

I was following you up until the part about Libby. How is he being subject to double jeopardy? Is he being tried now for a crime for which he has already be acquitted? We may disagree about the length of the sentence, or even with whether or not Libby should have been convicted at all, but the mention of 'double jeopardy' in this instance appears to be way off mark. As a public defender, I would love to have the assistance of these law professors in combating the daily injustices I see inflicted upon the addicted, the mentally ill, and upon those whose only affliction is their poverty. This political witch hunt, if you wish to characterize it as such, is a fly in a cesspool. Was there excessive sentencing? Come to our courtrooms. I'll show you some excessive sentences.
