Ya know, my middle-aged mother, intelligent, witty, fiery tempered and independent, is always going on and on about how I need to improve my low self-esteem, how looks don't really matter, how SHE thinks I'm beautiful. Finally, I have a counter argument-it's awesome to have an ugly daughter! Because then THIS will never happen to YOU! You should be rejoicing in my ugliness, not trying to get me to think I'm some beautiful swan.

I might add, just a small piece, that you can try reminding yourself that your gorgeous daughter came out of your genes, and more importantly, someday she'll be exactly where you are-and that you were probably where she is. Just grit your teeth, get past the initial "youth" part, and wait for nature to take its course.
