Thanks, trebuchet :-) She's three months old right now, and just the most ridiculously wonderful thing that ever happened. I heard her laugh last night for the first time. I've never made her laugh, it's my partner who's the funny one, I guess. But gosh, that little giggle just slayed me. Totally objectively speaking, she's the cutest baby in the world.

What was illuminating was the adoption proceeding when my partner adopted her (thank goodness we live in a state that allows that). I guess they do one docket a month of adoptions, and in the Baltimore City court, the docket was 8 or 9 lesbian couples, 1 gay male couple, and 2 straight couples who were probably just flabbergasted.
