Hear, hear! I grew up in the country on non-factory farmed meat, and I hate it when people (inevitably city folks) conflate ethical eating with vegetarianism.

There is a middle ground between being a vegetarian snob -- and I don't mean people who are veggie because of health issues or religious reasons, but the snobs like the veggie the author of the article chose to marry -- and a supermarket-shopping zombie. It's simple: demand better food, and be willing to go slightly out of your way to get it. Bonus: Kids often love going to farmer's markets, and the farmers are often quite happy to educate on how the food came to market. Extra bonus: the food is a million times better, and you'll get to (re)learn what "eating in season" is.
