I suppose one must sentence people but enthusiasm is unseemly. Both Scooter's and PH's judges fail on that score. The judge must impose sentence in sorrow and not in anger. Vox populi should not be howling in the anteroom. PH is clearly a victim of vox populi, although she cannot, in a strict sense, be heard to complain about the outcome of finding herself in the wrong. The sheriff is suffering a recall, and the judge has a secure hold on re-election. And now Christopher Hitchens faces scorn from like sources.
