I doubt it, because the Dept. of Defense needs the Hummer manufacturing capacity for military vehicles. Perhaps GM can sell it to Oshkosh Corp., another maker of DOD-type vehicles. Whether or not the brand survives as a civilian brand is another matter. The good news is that there isn't a dealer on every other corner. But, like every other GM brand, there are 3X to 6X more dealers than GM needs. Perhaps it could be folded into the commercial truck part of GM. No matter what happens, former retail dealers for GM, Chrysler and Ford will be turned into a wonderful network of banquet halls or maybe roller rinks--with lots of jobs lost. But that's what happens when a company expects a 16-million-unit car market, but demand is about 8 million--all augmented by other carmakers, many of which are building here in the U.S.
