Why do people think it is ok to bully fat people? Being fat is not immoral. Here's a quick run-down of immoral: pedophilia, murder, robbery, assault, cruelty, rape, narcissism, lying, materialism, driving drunk or loaded, etc. You get the idea. Not to say some fat people do not have some of these traits just as thin people do.

In terms of form and content, this “argument” about fat people smacks of McCarthyism, sexism or racism. Fat people are easy to spot and projecting how badly you feel about yourself onto them is pathetic. Stop it. Do not try to justify it. It’s mean and stupid.

If you really want to “help” someone or whine about something or make yourself feel better please select an issue that is a genuine problem. Go after child abusers, wife-beaters, tax evaders, or some other form of injustice. Yes, a fat person may die sooner (although one recent study shows they may live longer) but it just isn’t your business. I’d rather sit next to a fat person on a plane than a pedophile or racist.

I know many women who are bulimic and are very beautiful. They spend hours thinking of ways to get food and get rid of in an unnatural way while their boyfriends and husbands look the other way. They like their skinny girlfriend/wife because they think she makes them look good.

Look at yourself and if you’re perfect – go for it. Otherwise, shut up. Show a tiny bit of compassion for anyone different from YOUR ideal.
