the economic lower classes. they tend to be the ones who smoke more and can ill afford the increasingly expensive ways to quite the habit. nicotine patches and gums are quite pricey, not to mention don't work for everyone. hypnotists and acupuncture? same problems. and smoking becomes every bit as much of an addiction to those who succumb as alcoholism or crack. So, all these poorer people, who probably have little to no health insurance sit down and plunk more of their hard earned cash on these "cancer sticks" and further their addiction even more. and who wins? the gov't and the tobacco companies.
banning smoking everywhere does nothing to help people get rid of the actual addiction, it only serves to make the world more enjoyable for those who don't have the addiction. it's just strange how society picks and chooses what vices it will allow. i'm more bothered by people that pick their noses/crotches in public than by someone walking down the street with a cig in their mouth.
