a tangle of people trying to figure out how to have the ethnicity or religion without the abuse... to avoid the genocide... but it all ends up as a tangle of parents' rights vs the state; children are being treated in a way the parents judge best _for the children and the community_ while the state is deciding that the parents are wrong and the community worthless.

I realize there are all sorts of ideological ironies and contradictions surrounding this issue.

I would be fine with letting the parents decide IF they get real information, not the total bullshit they get now. I mean, they should see a video of an actual circumcision. They should be told that rates are falling and that cosmetic reasons are absurd. They should be told there are no legitimate health or hygeine benefits. They should be told that it changes sexual functioning for life. Insurance should NOT pay for the procedure.

If after all that the parents decide to do it, then I'd be ok with it.

But the current misinformation out there is pathetic. Absolutely pathetic.
