Although it is fairly easy to pin the blame on illegal immigrants, the study by Komlos actually screened out people of Asian and Hispanic descent, due to influencing factors. A more likely reason is the high calorie low nutrient diets that are given to children during what would ordinarily be the growth sprints, which in effect, lower their potential height. This effect can be seen in minority populations, such as Asian-americans, who generally eat a more healthful diet thus causing their second-generation children to grow much taller than their parents. In short, home cooking is always better for you and your kids.
