The author is interesting, and a bit scary. He self-identifies as NPD, and tends to demonize the disorder, focusing on the extreme, isolated narcissist, rather than looking at it as a range of maladaptive traits in a broader spectrum of personality. I suppose demonizing it is a form of grandiosity, which fits with his self-identification.

I don't believe people can't get better. We can become aware of our patterns and alter them, if we're sufficiently motivated. When we can't change them entirely, we can make them less destructive to ourselves and the people around us.

I find it interesting that NPDs start to come apart as they age, as their idealized false self becomes harder to sustain. He claims they become vulnerable to paranoia.

No shortage of it around here. I see some of myself on both sides of the pathology.
