"These people..."
That statement alone shows your prejudice. I would have thought that, as a nurse, you might have some compassion for people, particularly the homeless, many of whom (as you will find if you pause to do some research) are not drug addicted. Yes, many are, but many aren't. To lump someone who is homeless because their home was foreclosed upon with someone who is homeless because of a drug addiction (which, as a registered nurse, you must realize is a disease) is both callous and undignified. As a nurse, do you give different levels of care to the people you think of as "worthy" and those you deem "unworthy?" Would you give care to "these people" or to "that one?"
Finally, it's very easy to raise questions that play on people's doubts and fears. Why did Sarah Palin, after her water broke, fly all the way back from Texas to Alaska and then drive from Anchorage to Wasilla to deliver? Was the baby not hers but Bristol's? Or was she trying to kill poor Trig by flying while in labor--a known danger? Or is it just evidence of poor judgment? Easy to ask these types of questions: tough to refute them. And very easy to sow doubts, as you did in your post. I prefer to stick to issues and policies.
