"People whose posts I don't open" is actually a much bigger list, in truth, and even if I do open a thread, I'll often only read the replies by people I like reading, and ignore the replies by those I don't read. It sometimes makes it hard to catch the sense of the conversation, but not that hard, and I really don't have a lot of patience for people who bore or annoy me (in fact, if you're reading and you think you're one of those people, replying to this post would be a waste of your time).
