With regard to the Kurds, what i would have had us DO is what Clinton DID -- give them air support. Compared to our other recent Presidents, Clinton was the Master at limited, focused intervention. We should have intervened years before we did in Bosnia, that's clear to everyone, now. We could have stopped the shelling of Sarajevo just about any time, but Bush Senior just didn't have the stones for it.

I do NOT regard PI lawyers as shining knights -- I regard them as the help of last resort for people who need help. we have large corporations who do terrible things to poor people who can do nothing in return, without the tort bar. Take that away from them and you will, eventually have the return of the Molly McGuires. The verskon of "tort reform" I see proposed by republicans and DLC idiots is class warfare that believes it can get away with being one-sided. That does not work.

That does not work.

That does not work.

Sooner or later, it comes back to haunt you. You either do the right thing or you will eventually have to pay.

Hundreds of businesses are NOT failing under asbestos lawsuits. The big ones got out from under by restructuring. Asbestos is a mess, and you already have government involved at every step of its disposal. In fact, that governemt intervention has CREATED thousands of jobs and has created an environment in which small business has done quite well.

If a bundh of lawyers gaming the system bugs you, then change teh system, but DO NOT THINK it's a smart idea to just blow it up and deprive the poor of justice. Historically, Americans mostly shy away from class war. Times are hard, though, and people are angry.

As to whether it would be worse if Saddam maintained his dictatorship in Iraw or lost THE WAR THAT HE STARTED with Iran, I'd say an Iranian victory wouldn't have been at all bad. Iran had NO imperial ambitions regarding Iraq. They were attacked and wanted to hit back. They also wanted to stop his genocidal campaign against the Shiite majority in his country.

Seriously, explain why, in rational language, an Iranian victory would have been so bad. Are you going to tell me Israel would have been worse off that way? How many missiles has Iran ever launched at Israel? Well?
