Did Prohibition stop people boozing?

Would banning firearms stop criminals obtaining, and using them?

Would banning abortion stop it?

The answer to all of those are NO.

The rich kids will go for a weeks holiday in Europe, the poor kids will go to the back street abortionist, back to the bottle of gin and a knitting needle - is that what you want?

Far better to have good sex education in schools, something that many of the anti-abortionists are against - when are the pro-life mob, as they call themselves, going to realise that sex is as natural as breathing, it's no big sin, providing that it is between two consenting adults - different societies put the age of consent at differing ages.

Without proper sex education the kids won't know how to prevent unwanted pregnancies - do you want to keep them in ignorance? How many parents will sit down and discuss sex with their young kids? How many feel that it is just too embarrassing to discuss any aspect of sex with their kids?

People don't seem to mind their sons being stud of the month, but object very strongly to their daughters taking up a similar title, which is illogical. I'll admit that I'm among that lot, I want my daughter to be my little girl for as long as possible, yet, as she is over 16, I have to understand that her body belongs to her, and no-one else, what she does with it is her business. All I can do for her it be there for her if things go wrong.
