That's a bit over my head. But I can see that people need to let off steam, and sometimes intensity of feeling will give them strength to do great things.

I've been reading a narrative of the Depression called "The Dark Valley." The fear people felt in those years tended to drive them to the two extremes of political expression: In Germany Communists and fascists fought in the street and fascism won. In Italy fascism was already triumphant before the Depression began. In Spain it became so at the end of the '30s, and remained in charge 'til the '70s!

Who knows what will happen here?
