Hey, cbpelto, good re-enactment of the kind of ex cathedra declaratory condemnation of minor transgressions I remember so well from the pulpits of my childhood! Thanks for the ANTI-nostalgia trip.

In my earlier post I forgot to mention what Mr. Pelto's post nicely demonstrates: liberals have good reason to believe we must keep fighting: the single-minded holy zeal of the other side makes them so dangerous to personal freedom we can't accord them the tolerance we'd like to.

And, re socialism, nice job of retailing the great American canard that the only choice is between laissez-faire capitalism and communism. Not so, Joe. Turns out that in Europe they've developed something called social democracy that preserves representative government while creating many programs that make life better for the poor and middle class.

Anyone who's not rich lives a more secure life there than here.
