Joe Torre would also take half a season to figure out that the five-tool Matt Kemp was far and away his best, most dynamic pre-Manny player as he lost unnecessary games wasting ABs on the rotting corpses of Andruw Jones, Pierre Pan and their collective sub-.600 OPS (!!!!) as Kemp sat idly on the bench, and then take another month or two to figure out that Andre Ethier was the obvious choice to round out the OF over either of those high-priced dogs.

So, yeah....no. But I'm all for negotiating as a tool for conflict resolution.
