Do we owe her an apology?
by SilasPorter
Maybe the media has a collective guilty conscience over how it "treated" Sarah Palin the last few days. Or maybe it forgot that she was debating as a vice presidential candidate against a vice presidential candidate. Whatever the reason, I don't understand why she is getting a pass on this. The only plausible explanation for the kid-gloves on her performance last night is this: She wasn't debating Joe Biden, Barack Obama, or John McCain. Sarah Palin was debating the woman that showed up to that Katie Couric interview a week ago. She was debating Tina Fey's impersonation of her. And if that's the measure, then, okay, I suppose she won.
But seriously, level the playing field of expectations and you'd quickly realize she was horrible. She didn't say anything. And to get a full grasp of her nothingness, all you'd have to do is mute your television and turn on the subtitles. Reading what she is saying demonstrates clearly how shallow her thought is and how little she actually says.
"Corruption, greed. And it must stop. And we will stop it." That's not a plan. That's like saying "We are against racism and murder."
And what about her Global Warming argument: "I don't care how it is caused. I care about stopping it. Oh, by the way, Man is a little responsible for it. But mostly, it's caused by cyclical changes.
How, may I ask, do you stop a cyclical change? Do you hire Superman? Do you pray to God in tongues? Or how about a witch doctor?
This woman is absolutely ridiculous as a VP. I wouldn't mind her as a neighbor. But I'm absolutely terrified if she has any control over my life—whether it be in the PTA, the city hall, the governor's mansion or the White House.
